Horseback Riding is a beautiful and unique way to explore the Sacred Valley of the Incas. While not having to walk, you can relax and enjoy the stunning landscapes of Pata Cancha-Valley in their fullest bloom. Visiting the ancient Inca ruins of Pumamarca will also satisfy your curiosity about the Inca culture and its past. Additionally, you will have a blast riding your horse with family and friends – an unforgettable experience you won’t want to miss while staying in Cusco.
Full Itinerary
We start this tour from Ollantaytambo. Before starting our ride, you will meet your tour guide, who will equip you with a horse and a helmet and provide basic instructions on how to guide the horse safely. We will then embark on our adventurous trip in the Pata Cancha Valley, located next to the river of the same name, and ride for two hours to Pumamarca, passing through small, colourful towns like Muñaypata and Muscapiquio along the way. We will explore ancient Inca terraces, take in the breathtaking panorama of the green valley, and observe indigenous people in their traditional attire, alongside animals such as llamas. Arriving at the pre-Inca archaeological site of Pumamarca, one of the first Inca settlements, we will take a short break to explore the ruins before making our way back to Ollantaytambo.
Upon request, we can include private transportation to and from Cusco for an additional US$60 per person. One-way transport is US$30 for two persons.
