Overview

Puerto Maldonado is known as Peru’s biodiversity capital. There are a few places in the world with such a magical combination of vibrant forests, winding rivers, and large swamps, all within sustainable ecosystems called aguajales.

EcoAmazonia Lodge location is two hours from Puerto Maldonado. To reach the lodge, you will navigate by boat through the Madre de Dios River, in the heart of the Tambopata region of the Amazon.

EcoAmazonia has 50 comfortable bungalows, designed and built with local materials while adhering to environmental and social responsibility standards.

Full Itinerary

Upon your arrival in Puerto Maldonado, Peru’s capital of biodiversity, we will recieve you at the airport. From there, we will begin our program with a bus ride around the city.

Afterwards, you will head to Puerto Capitanía to board a motorised riverboat and navigate along the Madre de Dios River to EcoAmazonia Lodge. During the journey, you may be fortunate to spot several exotic animal species, such as ronsocos, caimans, turtles, herons, and coromonts, in their natural habitat.

Once you reach the lodge, an exquisite drink  it will wellcome  you. You will  proceed to your bungalow and get settled. Lunch will follow.

Led by your specialised guide, you will begin your tour with an impressive trail to Caimán Pond, a small lake with an abundance of black caiman (Melanosuchus niger) and caiman (Caiman crocodilus) specimens.

At the end of the evening, you will witness a spectacular Amazonian sunset — an intense and colourful experience.

A delicious dinner will await you at the lodge. You’ll have some free time afterwards, so enjoy a drink at the bar and spend some time in the excellent game room!

You’ll wake up to the beautiful singing of Amazonian birds. A hearty breakfast will provide the energy for a stimulating morning.

After breakfast, you will begin your hike into the depths of the forest along trails featuring specially designed bridges to cross gorges and rivers. Along the way, you will pass through the flooded forest and a great variety of flora, fauna and wildlife. You will then arrive at the majestic crystal waters of Lake Apu Victor, surrounded by marshes and giant trees.

Afterwards, you’ll head to the Observation Deck, from which you’ll have a panoramic view of the lake and its inhabitants: parrots, macaws, toucans, camungos, shanshos, herons, caimans, turtles, etc. We may even have a chance to observe the giant otter — one of the rainforest’s most spectacular animals.

After several hours, you will return to the Lodge to enjoy lunch.
