Overview
This is one of the most amazing roads, going from the Andean Valley to the “Alti Plano” (high plateau) where Lake Titicaca is located. At 3856 m.a.s.l., Lake Titicaca is the highest navigable lake in the World. Its shores and islands, such as Amantani and Taquile, are home to the Aymaras and Quechuas, among Peru’s oldest peoples, who predate the Incas by a thousand years.
Embarking on the journey through the Altiplano to the kingdom of the Condors begins in the city of Puno. During this trip, you will be able to see incredible Andean scenery and gorgeous views of Arequipa’s volcanoes, adorned by Alpacas, Vicuñas, and the majestic Condor.
You will visit the famous lookout point “Cruz del Condor” in the Colca Canyon, an observation platform from which you can see the majestic flight of the Andean Condor in its natural habitat, as well as a visit to the most outstanding Hot Springs of Peru. At this fantastic natural place, you can relax after exploring the incredible Colca Canyon.

On arrival, we will visit three of the islands, meeting their people who will explain their daily lives and deeply rooted customs.
Uros Floating Island

Taquile Island
Located four hours by boat from the port of Puno, Taquile is one of the favourite destinations for visitors, especially renowned for its beautiful scenery. While reaching the central square of the island, you can walk uphill for about an hour, then enjoy a delicious lunch and afterwards continue the walk downstairs (535 stone steps) back to the port of Taquile.
The tour takes a full day, starting with a visit to the Uros Islands, followed by Taquile Island, where you can enjoy the colourful clothing of its inhabitants, which makes Taquile famous and a cultural heritage of humanity.
Note: Please do not give candies to the kids on the islands! They appreciate oranges and other fruits, as it is impossible to grow them in these altitudes on the islands, and it will conserve both their teeth and the environment.
Accommodation: Sol Plaza Hotel Puno
On the first day, your adventure begins at 06:00 am when you will be picked up from your hotel in Puno. We will board our tour bus and head northwest, leaving behind the gorgeous scenery of Lake Titicaca.
Along the paved road, we will see many small towns as well as the beautiful lagoon Lagunillas, where we can explore trout farms and observe Andean flamingos among many Andean birds. After ascending the road, we will reach the Viscachani. We take a short break, stretch our legs, use the bathroom if needed, and enjoy a typical coca tea or coffee at the local restaurant. Afterwards, we will continue ascending a minor road until we reach the highest point of our trip, the Andes lookout point (4800 m/15,748 ft).
At the very top, we will get off the bus for a few minutes to enjoy the stunning landscape, including the great volcanoes Mismi, Misti, Chachani, Sabancaya (active), and Ampato. Later, we will drive downhill to the main town of the Colca Canyon, Chivay (3600 m/11.811 ft). We will stop at Chivay's main square and then take you to your hotel. At 3:00 pm, we will meet our travel mates, who started the Colca Canyon Classic Tour in Arequipa.
Afterwards, we bring you to the Hotel La Casa de Mama Yacchi, where you have some time to relax before joining a 30-minute walk to the Hot Springs. Here, you can enjoy the warm, natural waters (35°C/95ºF) in the beautiful outdoor surroundings of the vast mountains, the river, and even some local animals. After sunset, we return to the hotel and have dinner.
Accommodation: Hotel La Casa de Mama Yacchi
On the second day of our adventure, we will have breakfast very early in the morning and leave for the famous “Cruz del Condor”. Arriving there, we have plenty of time to enjoy the great view of the deep Canyon and (if the weather permits) the majestic Condor in its natural habitat.
After some time, our guide will take you for a short walk near the Canyon (approx. 1 hour). On our way back to Chivay, we’re going to visit the traditional village of Pinchollo and the “Antahuilque viewpoint,” where we can gaze at the wonderful 1,500-year-old terraces built by the Collaguas, an ancient culture before the Incas. We will also make a small stop at the lookout point of “Choquetico” with its hanging tombs. Then, we continued our trip to the small Andean community of Maca and the village of Yanque, home to the most beautiful church in the whole valley.

What Our Clients Say
Excellent rating
Based on 94 reviewsVerified Great experience to see many sites in Peru! A big thanks to Leo for a wonderfully planned trip. There was always a driver waiting for us when we landed - after some long days it helps to not have to worry about one more thing! Leo made many of the arrangements for us in Arequipa, Puno, Cusco, Ollantaytambo, and Lima. Hotels were good to great - their staff always friendly and ready to help. Leo arranged for our guides and one in particular, Alex, proved to be an outstanding guide in Sacred Valley. Alex's English was perfect, he knew his history and sites extremely well, and did a great job in guiding the 6 of us on our a daylong hike up the Inca trail. And Leo always had wonderful recommendations for restaurants and other things to do. Thank you! Roxane BVerified A Flawlessly Organized and Unforgettable Peru Adventure My sister recently organized our trip to Peru with Roland, and it was absolutely fantastic. He dotted all the i’s and crossed all the t’s, making the whole experience seamless. The trip was wonderfully diverse, with excursions throughout Peru that gave us an incredible apperçu of the country and its sites. Highly recommended! Renee BVerified No podes ir a Río sin alguna vez parar sobre Copacabana! Mortal.. Estuve en Rio frente al mar en Copacabana. Me encanto! Gente durante todo el día! Y si te animas visita la Rozhina con un local, obvio! Go03529326781Verified Personalized adventure of a lifetime We took a personalized trip to Cusco, Sacred Valley, and Machu Picchu with Green Peru Adventures. Leo, the owner of Green Peru Adventures, listened to all my ideas and planned an excellent trip for us! We had an amazing and safe driver, Willie, to take us on all the scheduled tours throughout Cusco and the Sacred Valley. He was there, on time, and got us safely to all our destinations with no problems. Our tour guide, Freddie, was knowledgeable, entertaining, patient, and just great to hang around with! Hiram was an excellent tour guide for our Machu Picchu adventure! He had so much knowledge about all the ins and outs of the Citadel and provided us with interesting stories and life during Incan times. Really, this great trip could not have been successful without the great design from Leo, the owner of Green Peru Adventures. Thank you so much for making this once in a lifetime trip so incredible! krwalker77Verified Overall good - but mixed experience with sub-contractors Booked the 2-day tour from Puno to Arequipa via Colca Canyon. Unfortunately Green Peru Adventures is just an Agent and not actually delivering the service - so having them one step removed added to the difficulties. We were not informed that one provider (Nativa Express) would be coordinating the first half day, and then we would be handed over to Giardino Tours for the remaining day and a half. Nativa Express were appalling. They were half hour late for pickup - which ordinarily is fine but there was no communication. Our “Guide” didn’t talk to us the whole journey until we were offloaded at a remote ‘Crossroads (like a roadhouse) and told we had to wait for another driver. First we’d heard of this!!! Other driver was running late but our Nativa Guide didn’t have their number! After half hour she took off in another van leaving us in the hands of the Nativa bus driver. However the moment she was out of sight he drove off leaving us abandoned in the middle of nowhere! We were to be tranferred to Giardino Tours, and at this point the only saving grace was another driver and guide from that company reaching out and assuring us that they’d been in contact with our Giardino guide and exactly how long the would be. From then on, our tour was amazing!! 5-stars to Guardino Tours!! But next time we will book with them directly. baafreoVerified Cusco, Valle sagrado, Machu Picchu, montaña de colores Roland (Leo) hizo de nuestro viaje a Cusco una experiencia placentera. G- PVerified Great experience! My husband and I just came back from our trip to Peru, and we are very satisfied with the services provided by Green Peru Adventures. The Green Peru Adventures staff was professional since the beginning. They were well organized, always punctual, helpful, and friendly. They created a customized package for us and another couple (friends of ours) that included all the activities and private tours that we wanted to experience while we were in Peru. The staff answered all our questions in a timely manner through What’s App, and was very accommodating to our requests. There was an internal issue with the hotel that we had first booked, but Roland, our main point of contact, was proactive and fixed everything before we got there. Alex and Favio, our tour guides in Cusco and Machu Picchu, respectively, were very nice and knowledgeable. Julio, our driver, was always punctual and drove us safely to all our destinations. Thank you, Green Peru Adventures! We had a great experience in Peru thanks to your team. We would use your services again in the future, and recommend to our friends and family <3. Xochitl BVerified Feeling comfortable I'm from the UK, I was very apprehensive about just arriving in Peru on my own and booking a tour with a tour company that I know nothing about. Being in the middle of the desert in Peru with a complete stranger is quite daunting. However, Leo (Roland) was very helpful, always available via whatsapp to answer questions and responding to my requests for confirmation etc. I booked a tour from Puno to Arequipa with a one night stay in Chivay for Colca canyon. Everything was very smooth, I felt comfortable straight away. Very professional tour guide and driver, nice new buses to travel in. Nice accomodation etc. I would definately use again. I usually like more than 5 reviews before I use a company, but this one I recommend, I'm not biased, I just feel the need to write a good review. Mjohnson51Verified Two day tour Colca Canyon from Puno to Arequipa We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 day tour of the Colca Canyon from Puno with Giardino Tours/Green Peru Adventures. We we were picked up in Puno, stayed overnight close to Chivay, toured the Colca Canyon and surrounding area the next day and were driven on to Arequipa after that. Our guide Elar (Giardino Tours) was excellent. He was very knowledgeable, and thoughtful and accommodating in planning our itinerary. We made many interesting stops along the way over the 2 days. It was a great way to see the Canyon and travel between Puno and Arequipa.
