Please note that we can only reserve tickets for Machu Picchu with one month’s notice. If you are booking your trip to Machu Picchu within one month of your visit, you will need to buy your ticket when you arrive in Aguas Calientes, the nearest town to Machu Picchu. In this case, your trip must include an extra day in Aguas Calientes to get your entrance ticket.
Guidance on buying Machu Picchu entrance tickets in Aguas Calientes
1000 tickets a day are put on sale in Aguas Calientes for entrance to Machu Picchu the following day. To buy a ticket, you must go to the Ministerio de Cultura office twice, the day before you visit Machu Picchu. The Ministerio de Cultura office is just half a block from the main square in Aguas Calientes.
First, you must go to the office the day before your visit to Machu Picchu with your original passport to collect a queue number. These are released at 6 am, and we recommend arriving at the office by 4 am to ensure you receive your ticket. If you go to the office after 8 am, no more queue numbers will be available. You will have time to return to the office that afternoon to buy your entrance ticket to Machu Picchu.
Secondly, you must return to the office with your original passport at the time shown on your queue number, and make sure you are not late, as you will lose your ticket. The entrance ticket costs S/.152 and must be paid in cash.
You can spend the rest of your day in Aguas Calientes enjoying the town’s many shops and restaurants, and visiting the nearby waterfalls and thermal baths. The following day, you will be able to enjoy an unforgettable trip to Machu Picchu.
Full Itinerary
The Paragliding Tandem Flight Tour starts at 08:00 am in Cusco, when we pick you up from your hotel and take you by private bus to one of our flying zones (depending on the weather, we will choose the best one). On our journey, we will pass through little towns like Chinchero.
Arriving at the flying zone after 45 minutes, we will first enjoy the fantastic view over the tropical snow carpets along the Sacred Valley of the Incas. In good weather conditions, we will take off immediately.
After the flight, we will transport you to the Ollantaytambo Train Station. We recommend bringing snacks and lunch, as the Paragliding Flight may take longer.
If we arrive early in Ollantaytambo, you will have the opportunity to visit the archaeological site or explore the Inca town itself. You will be amazed by the impressive Temple of the Sun, featuring intricate stonework, terraces built to support the mountain, and a temple shaped like a llama.
If you use your free time to explore the complex, please note that the train to Aguas Calientes leaves Ollantaytambo at 04:36 pm. From here, you will enjoy a 2-hour train journey with panoramic windows, offering a view of the Urubamba River as it descends from the high valley to the cloud forest at 2000 meters. The landscape changes drastically in front of your eyes! You will be amazed to see the tropical mountain ending in a snow-covered carpet and small waterfalls shimmering on the hills, forming small rivers that converge into the Sacred River. After these spectacular natural views, you arrive at Aguas Calientes, where the warm atmosphere welcomes you with typical jungle sounds.
Our staff will be waiting for you at the train station gate in Aguas Calientes and will take you to your hostel.
At 07:00 pm, you will receive a short briefing from your tour guide for the next day’s excursion, so please make sure you are in the hotel at that time.
Accommodation: Hotel Hatun Inti Classic
The day you were waiting for!
Wake up early for breakfast and take the bus uphill to the famous Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu, the Lost City of the Incas. The first bus leaves at 05:30 am and takes 25 minutes. (This timing can change according to the entrance fee to Machu Picchu)
Optional: Take the path which winds up the mountain to reach Machu Picchu.
The Machu Picchu gate opens at 06:00, so arriving early will allow you to be among the first visitors of the day and avoid the crowds. However, we may adjust the timing of your booking.
After you check your entrance fee, a private bilingual tour guide will escort you through the vast ruins for approximately 2.5 hours, providing a comprehensive explanation of Machu Picchu's historical significance and its role within the Inca Empire.
Machu Picchu is the best-known of all the Inca Archaeological sites, as it is recognised worldwide as one of the New Seven Wonders, even though it's not mentioned in any handwritten Chronicle of the Spanish Conquerors. Experts believe that Machu Picchu was constructed around the mid-15th century by Inca Pachacuteq and was rediscovered in 1911 by American historian Hiram Bingham.
The guided tour of this fascinating site will be an unforgettable experience, featuring visits to the Main Square, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows, the Circular Sun Tower, the Sacred Sun Dial (Intihuatana), and the Burial Grounds.
We offer optional hikes in Machu Picchu with an additional ticket. (has to be reserved together with your booking)
You can hike up Huayna Picchu (the mountain behind Machu Picchu), from where you will enjoy stunning views over the whole complex! However, only 400 entrance tickets are available per day; therefore, you must let us know in advance if you plan to hike so we can reserve your ticket for an additional cost of US$60.00.
Since Huayna Picchu sells very quickly, we offer Machu Picchu Mountain as an optional alternative climb. The advantage of this hike is that it will be less crowded, but not less beautiful! The cost for this hike is also US$60.00.
La Gran Caverna is a ceremonial place in Machu Picchu, US$60.00 per person.
Also, there is another road to Inti Punku, the SUN GATE, which is the traditional end of the Inca Trail (a 3-hour hike) and costs US$60.00 per person.
You can visit the beautiful Inca Bridge (a 1-hour hike). This road will allow you to enjoy other views of Machu Picchu and take many breathtaking pictures. US$46.00 per person.
You will arrive at Aguas Calientes for a late lunch.
At 14:30, you take the train back to Ollantaytambo and then a tourist bus to Cusco.
Please let us know if you want to spend more time in Aguas Calientes, so we can book a later train at 04:12 pm or 19:00 (depending on the train service, there may be an extra cost).

What Our Clients Say
Excellent rating
Based on 94 reviewsVerified Great experience to see many sites in Peru! A big thanks to Leo for a wonderfully planned trip. There was always a driver waiting for us when we landed - after some long days it helps to not have to worry about one more thing! Leo made many of the arrangements for us in Arequipa, Puno, Cusco, Ollantaytambo, and Lima. Hotels were good to great - their staff always friendly and ready to help. Leo arranged for our guides and one in particular, Alex, proved to be an outstanding guide in Sacred Valley. Alex's English was perfect, he knew his history and sites extremely well, and did a great job in guiding the 6 of us on our a daylong hike up the Inca trail. And Leo always had wonderful recommendations for restaurants and other things to do. Thank you! Roxane BVerified A Flawlessly Organized and Unforgettable Peru Adventure My sister recently organized our trip to Peru with Roland, and it was absolutely fantastic. He dotted all the i’s and crossed all the t’s, making the whole experience seamless. The trip was wonderfully diverse, with excursions throughout Peru that gave us an incredible apperçu of the country and its sites. Highly recommended! Renee BVerified No podes ir a Río sin alguna vez parar sobre Copacabana! Mortal.. Estuve en Rio frente al mar en Copacabana. Me encanto! Gente durante todo el día! Y si te animas visita la Rozhina con un local, obvio! Go03529326781Verified Personalized adventure of a lifetime We took a personalized trip to Cusco, Sacred Valley, and Machu Picchu with Green Peru Adventures. Leo, the owner of Green Peru Adventures, listened to all my ideas and planned an excellent trip for us! We had an amazing and safe driver, Willie, to take us on all the scheduled tours throughout Cusco and the Sacred Valley. He was there, on time, and got us safely to all our destinations with no problems. Our tour guide, Freddie, was knowledgeable, entertaining, patient, and just great to hang around with! Hiram was an excellent tour guide for our Machu Picchu adventure! He had so much knowledge about all the ins and outs of the Citadel and provided us with interesting stories and life during Incan times. Really, this great trip could not have been successful without the great design from Leo, the owner of Green Peru Adventures. Thank you so much for making this once in a lifetime trip so incredible! krwalker77Verified Overall good - but mixed experience with sub-contractors Booked the 2-day tour from Puno to Arequipa via Colca Canyon. Unfortunately Green Peru Adventures is just an Agent and not actually delivering the service - so having them one step removed added to the difficulties. We were not informed that one provider (Nativa Express) would be coordinating the first half day, and then we would be handed over to Giardino Tours for the remaining day and a half. Nativa Express were appalling. They were half hour late for pickup - which ordinarily is fine but there was no communication. Our “Guide” didn’t talk to us the whole journey until we were offloaded at a remote ‘Crossroads (like a roadhouse) and told we had to wait for another driver. First we’d heard of this!!! Other driver was running late but our Nativa Guide didn’t have their number! After half hour she took off in another van leaving us in the hands of the Nativa bus driver. However the moment she was out of sight he drove off leaving us abandoned in the middle of nowhere! We were to be tranferred to Giardino Tours, and at this point the only saving grace was another driver and guide from that company reaching out and assuring us that they’d been in contact with our Giardino guide and exactly how long the would be. From then on, our tour was amazing!! 5-stars to Guardino Tours!! But next time we will book with them directly. baafreoVerified Cusco, Valle sagrado, Machu Picchu, montaña de colores Roland (Leo) hizo de nuestro viaje a Cusco una experiencia placentera. G- PVerified Great experience! My husband and I just came back from our trip to Peru, and we are very satisfied with the services provided by Green Peru Adventures. The Green Peru Adventures staff was professional since the beginning. They were well organized, always punctual, helpful, and friendly. They created a customized package for us and another couple (friends of ours) that included all the activities and private tours that we wanted to experience while we were in Peru. The staff answered all our questions in a timely manner through What’s App, and was very accommodating to our requests. There was an internal issue with the hotel that we had first booked, but Roland, our main point of contact, was proactive and fixed everything before we got there. Alex and Favio, our tour guides in Cusco and Machu Picchu, respectively, were very nice and knowledgeable. Julio, our driver, was always punctual and drove us safely to all our destinations. Thank you, Green Peru Adventures! We had a great experience in Peru thanks to your team. We would use your services again in the future, and recommend to our friends and family <3. Xochitl BVerified Feeling comfortable I'm from the UK, I was very apprehensive about just arriving in Peru on my own and booking a tour with a tour company that I know nothing about. Being in the middle of the desert in Peru with a complete stranger is quite daunting. However, Leo (Roland) was very helpful, always available via whatsapp to answer questions and responding to my requests for confirmation etc. I booked a tour from Puno to Arequipa with a one night stay in Chivay for Colca canyon. Everything was very smooth, I felt comfortable straight away. Very professional tour guide and driver, nice new buses to travel in. Nice accomodation etc. I would definately use again. I usually like more than 5 reviews before I use a company, but this one I recommend, I'm not biased, I just feel the need to write a good review. Mjohnson51Verified Two day tour Colca Canyon from Puno to Arequipa We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 day tour of the Colca Canyon from Puno with Giardino Tours/Green Peru Adventures. We we were picked up in Puno, stayed overnight close to Chivay, toured the Colca Canyon and surrounding area the next day and were driven on to Arequipa after that. Our guide Elar (Giardino Tours) was excellent. He was very knowledgeable, and thoughtful and accommodating in planning our itinerary. We made many interesting stops along the way over the 2 days. It was a great way to see the Canyon and travel between Puno and Arequipa.
