From Cusco to Puno is one of the most amazing roads, going from the Andean Valley up to the ”Alti Plano” (high plateau) where Lake Titicaca is located, the highest navigable lake in the World at 3856 meters above sea level.

Its shores and islands, such as Amantani and Taquile, are home to the Aymaras and Quechuas, who are amongst Peru’s oldest peoples, predating the Incas by a thousand years. Here visitors may wander through old traditional villages where Spanish is a second language and where ancient myths and beliefs still hold true. Also is located close to Puno and the famous Uros Floating Islands whose inhabitants preserve their traditions and costumes on their handmade reed floating villages.


Day 1

Bus Cusco – Puno

At 6:15 am, we pick you up and transfer from your Hotel in Cusco to the private bus Station taking the Wonder Peru Tourist Bus to Puno. These tourist buses are fully equipped with services and a professional English speaking guide who will explain to you about the history and traditions on stops along the way, for example:
Andahuaylillas (the sistine chapel of South America), Rhachi and Puka Pukara
(Entrance to the 3 sites not included = total US$12).
Also included is a buffet lunch in Sicuani town and a stop with a spectacular view point of La Raya, at 4338 meters above sea level on the border between Cusco and Puno.
You will arrive in Puno around 5:00 pm.

At 7:00 pm there is a orientation briefing for the next day’s tour.

Day 2

Uros Islands and Amantani

The tour begins at 7:15 am where we will pick you up from your hotel and then take you to the local city port where you will be shipped by boat for the islands.

Tour duration is two days and one night, starting with a visit to the Uros Floating Island, then Amantani Island where you can see the pre-Inca temples dedicated to the fertility of the earth (Pachamama and Pachatata).
Uros is located 35 minutes by boat from the port of Puno, comprising of a group of islands mainly made of reed, also being used to make houses and boats, inhabited by “Uros” people who are very friendly and cordial with visitors.
Amantani, located 36 km. from the port of Puno (three hours by boat), is an island composed of eight communities engaged in agriculture, corn, quinoa as well as crafts that are representative of their culture.In this afternoon you will have a hike to one the tops of the island call Pachatata, from where you will have breath taking views, the sunset is one very unique, with bright colorful view.

After descending your host family will receive you with a typical delicious dinner, after all this you will be dress with the local costume and you will be bring to a local party to enjoy a local dance with your host family and the rest of the community.

Day 3

Taquile Island – Puno

After breakfast with your host family, you will be brought to the local harbor, we take a short boat ride to the shore of Taquile island, where we will start to hike to the main square of Taquile town, observing the people, world famous for their intricate and fascinating weavings and community work.The male are very easy to be identified who is married, single or dating a female, just for the colors of their hats, also you will get to know who is important in the island just by the way of wearing few of their items.You will have lunch in one of the community restaurants, after lunch, we descend the local port by the stairs of Taquile which has 535 stone steps to take the return trip to Puno, arriving to Puno in the afternoon 3:00 to 4:00 pm and then transferring you to your hotel.
