Horse Back Riding around the 4 Ruins of Cusco(4Hrs)
On horseback is an ideal way to experience the spectacular landscapes between Yuncaypata valley, near the Tambomachay Inca Complex, and Saqsaywaman. You'll be able to relax and take in the amazing views of the mountains toward the sacred valley region, crossing the old Inca road to Pucamarca and Huchuy-Qosqo. We'll cut through the deep Andean valleys and visit the four famous archeological sites of this region: Puca-pucara, Tambomachay, Qenko and Saqsayhuaman, the "House of the Sun" temple.
We'll also pass by the Temple of the Moon and the Monkey's Cave, and will enjoy views of the Ausangate, the highest snow-capped mountain in the region.
Program Itinerary
8:50 am and 12:50 noon: meet at the Green Peru Adventures office. We will drive you to the Ranch near Qenko, set you up with horses, and meet up with the wrangler who will accompany you to the Incan ruins. Upon leaving the ranch, you will come to the ruins of Qenko. This tour will give you a nice view, but entrance to any of the actual ruins requires purchase of a tourist ticket, which is not included. You can leave your horses with the wrangler while you look around. After departing from Qenko, you will ride along a dirt path to Puca Pucara, or “The Red Gate.” These military ruins provided defense for Cusco and the larger Incan Empire. Next you will continue to Tambomachay, or “The Bath of the Inca,” where you will see water features running through the terraced rocks. From Tambomachay, you will pass through a eucalyptus forest on the way to the fortress Saqsayhuaman. This ends the tour, and you can explore these ruins at your leisure.
